SSIS Sahara successfully performed an emergency leak detection survey on two bulk water supply pipelines for Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) in Phalaborwa using the Sahara® System.  A very large leak was located on a concrete encased section of one pipeline where it crosses the Selati River.  LNW mobilised immediately to repair the leak and prevent possible contamination of the potable water due to ingress from the river.

SSIS Sahara has been awarded a contract from Uthukela Water for the condition assessment of the Ngagane Pipelines near the town of Newcastle in Kwazulu Natal.  The system consist of two pipelines, steel and pre-stressed concrete, each approximately 25 km in length. 

Services in this contract will include the use of Sahara® Tethered Leak Detection and CCTV Systems, Remote Transient Pressure Monitoring (RTPM) as well as coating integrity and corrosion potential surveys in association with Isinyithi Cathodic Protection (ICP)

SSIS Sahara successfully performed the first CCTV inspections on the Vaal Gamagara Water Scheme (VGGWS) in the Norhern Cape Province of South Africa.  The VGGWS is a vast scheme, supplying users as far away as 300km from the abstraction point on the Vaal River.  The inspections provided valuable information regarding the internal condition of the pipelines at pre-selected locations along the scheme, thereby informing the decision making process as part of the overall master planning for the Scheme.  The inspections were performed while the pipelines remained operational, thereby preventing disruptions to service provision.
